NanoKTN Helps Drive Commercial Success for Award-Winning “Microsalt”

The Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network (NanoKTN), one of the UK’s primary knowledge-based networks for Micro and Nanotechnologies, is pleased to announce the UK and International commercial success of one of its members, eminate. The UK-based company has recently engaged with a number of UK supermarkets and food manufacturers to trial a new product, set to reduce the salt content of food in the UK and globally.

eminate’s Soda-Lo, a new low sodium no potassium ingredient developed by the food innovation company, aims to reduce salt content in food products naturally, whilst retaining a clean label for the same enjoyable salt flavour. High salt intakes are a major contributor to high blood pressure, increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke. Products like Soda-Lo will have a significant impact on the Government’s public health targets, helping the food industry to reach the 2012 guidelines suggested by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), to reduce the average salt intake in the UK from 10g per day to the recommended 6g.
