Extreme Networks Defies Market Trend With Record Number Of New Customers
Extreme Networks is pleased to announce impressive growth in its UK customer base during the second quarter of its 2010 financial year (Q4 2009), winning a record 31 new customers. The increase marks the completion Gary Newbold’s successful first year as Extreme Networks’ Regional Director for UK and Ireland.
There is no doubt that many IT budgets have been affected by the recent economic climate, but UK businesses are still looking to increase customer retention and profitability. End users now demand a greater return from fewer network resources, and have been seeking new, innovative solutions at an attractive procurement price point.
“The credit crunch has presented many ongoing challenges for businesses and a thorough review of an organisation’s communication infrastructure will identify areas where significant savings can be made,” commented Gary Newbold. “We have been winning business from our competitors by demonstrating a clear technology advantage and by offering customers a lower total cost of ownership.”

Chloride Launches Smallest Ever High-End UPS
Chloride, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and services, today announced the launch of its new 60-NET, a UPS designed to provide between 10 to 20 kVA of back-up power. The 60-NET offers high-end double conversion technology, previously available only to larger data centres, and with a footprint of just 0.27m2, it is suitable for even the smallest of IT facilities.
“The 60-NET is the only UPS of its size and class flexible enough to meet any power redundancy, harmonic control and battery backup time requirements,” said Chloride’s Technical Support Manager, Rob Tanzer. “Up to eight units can be set up in parallel to protect growing critical loads, whilst 60-NET is unique in its ability to supply uninterrupted power to any leading or lagging load power factor within its nominal rating. This means that the unit could support any future type of load - that may have some unknown electrical characteristic – without the user paying a price in terms of decreased efficiency or the need to buy additional equipment.”
